Implementation planning and program management
In order to successfully implement the programme, government functionaries would be required to undertake a series of activities:
- Establish PMSMA State & District Level Committees- State Level Committee is to be formulated under the Chairpersonship of Principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) and actively led by the Mission Director. The PMSMA District level Committee is to be formulated under the Chairpersonship of District Magistrate and actively led by the Civil Surgeon/Chief Medical Officer.
- Special focus must be given to Information, Education and Communication activities in order to sensitize pregnant women about the programme and encourage voluntary participation of private sector.
- Line listing of facilities for conducting PMSMA and line listing of private providers willing to support the initiative would need to be undertaken.
- To ensure a single window approach for beneficiaries, planning for logistics, like human resources, space, availability of drugs and diagnostics for target beneficiaries would be critical.
